2GO Travel Guide: What to Expect on the Ferry from Batangas to Caticlan (Booked via Klook)
It’s not my first time traveling with 2GO — the first one was way back in 2019 — but this recent trip felt like a fresh experience. I decided to explore the Philippines a little differently this time, not by plane, but by sea. I booked my 2GO Travel ferry via Klook and sailed from Batangas to Caticlan — a slow, scenic journey that reminded me how beautiful it is to take your time and just enjoy the ride.
A Different Kind of Adventure and A Way Home for Many Filipinos
As I’ve traveled more through the years, I’ve learned to stay open to different kinds of adventures — because every trip, big or small, has a way of shaping you. Traveling by sea isn’t just about getting to your destination; it’s about slowing down, breathing in the ocean air, and letting yourself be present.
Traveling with 2GO isn’t just about sightseeing — it’s also the way home for many Filipinos, especially during the holiday season. On my trip, I saw people heading back to their provinces, bringing gifts and pasalubong for their loved ones. It reminded me that sea travel isn’t just another mode of transportation — it’s part of our culture and tradition.
What’s even better? Your 2GO ticket already includes up to 50kg of baggage allowance — perfect for those carrying boxes, luggage, or gifts for the holidays. It’s practical, budget-friendly, and a lot less stressful than worrying about excess baggage fees.

⚓ The New Modern Batangas Pier
It’s been years since I last took a 2GO ferry, and I was honestly surprised by how much the Batangas Port has changed. The new terminal is cleaner, more organized, and more modern than before — definitely a big upgrade from my 2019 trip.
The check-in process was smooth and well-guided, with clear signage everywhere. There are convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and air-conditioned waiting areas, which make waiting for boarding a lot more comfortable.
If you’re used to the chaos of older ports, this one might surprise you in the best way. It’s now a proper travel hub — efficient, safe, and traveler-friendly.

2GO Travel operates nine modern vessels that sail across different parts of the Philippines — connecting travelers to destinations like Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, and more. Each ship has its own designated route, ensuring smooth and scheduled travel all over the country.
For those traveling from Batangas Port to Caticlan, the vessel you’ll be boarding is the MV St. Ignatius — one of 2GO’s upgraded and well-maintained ships. It’s spacious, clean, and equipped with amenities that make the long sea travel surprisingly comfortable and enjoyable.
⏱️ Travel Time
The ferry ride from Batangas Port to Caticlan takes around 11-12 hours, depending on weather and sea conditions. It’s an overnight journey — perfect if you want to rest and wake up already near Boracay the next day.
There’s a short stopover at Odiongan Port in Romblon when we traveled. The process is smooth and well-coordinated, so you don’t have to worry about long waiting times.

Arrive at the terminal 3–4 hours before departure, as boarding gates close 60 minutes before sail time. Trust me — it’s better to settle early and just enjoy people-watching while waiting.
🛏️ Room Types You Can Book
Before the trip, I expected a simple ferry ride just like my first time. But 2GO Travel surprised me with how comfortable and organized everything was especially when I tried Cabin Room! Depending on your budget and travel style, you can choose from different accommodation options.
Super Value – Perfect for solo or budget travelers. It’s an open-air area with double-deck bunks and shared bathrooms. Simple and affordable — you can rent pillows or blankets if needed. I didn't have pics of this.
Tourist Class – Ideal for small groups or solo travelers who want a bit more comfort. It’s air-conditioned with partitioned quad rooms and bunk-style beds.
Cabin Class – Great for families or friends traveling together. Comes with 4–6 bunk beds, private toilet and bath, desk, and sink.

🌊 Onboard Amenities: More Than Just a Ferry Ride
One of the things I truly enjoyed about my 2GO Travel experience is how it didn’t feel like a simple ferry ride — it actually felt like a mini cruise. The ship had everything you’d need for a comfortable (and even fun!) trip.
✨ Lobby Area
Upon boarding, you’ll be greeted by a clean and welcoming lobby area where you can settle in and get a feel of the ship’s layout. Staff are friendly and accommodating, making the start of your sea journey smooth and organized.
🍽️ Horizon Café
If you’re booked in a Stateroom or Cabin, you’ll enjoy your meals at Horizon Café, which serves hearty Filipino dishes and comfort food. The view of the open sea while you eat makes every meal more memorable.
🥢 Island Fiesta
For all passengers, Island Fiesta is the main dining area where everyone can buy meals and snacks. They serve a variety of affordable and filling dishes — perfect for travelers who want a taste of home while at sea.
☕ Café2GO
Need your caffeine fix? There’s Café2GO, the onboard café serving coffee, pastries, and light snacks. It’s also a cozy spot to hang out, read, or just enjoy the calm ocean view.
🛍️ Souvenir Shop & Mini Convenience Store
Forgot something or want a quick snack? There’s a souvenir shop and mini convenience store inside the vessel — stocked with essentials, chips, drinks, and small keepsakes to remember your trip.
🍻 Sea Breeze View Deck & Bar
This was my favorite part of the ship — the Sea Breeze Deck, an open-air viewing area where you can enjoy the ocean breeze and watch the sunset. At night, it transforms into a chill bar with live music, where passengers can order beer or cocktails and just vibe under the stars. It’s open to everyone, and honestly, it’s the best way to end a night at sea.
🍴 On-Board Meals
Food is definitely part of the 2GO Travel experience! Passengers booked in Stateroom and Cabin accommodations enjoy meals served at the Horizon Café, where you’ll find a mix of Filipino comfort food and hearty dishes perfect for long travels.
For everyone else, meals and snacks are available for purchase at Island Fiesta, the ship’s main dining area. There’s also Cafe2GO, an on-board café where you can grab coffee, pastries, and light snacks while watching the sea views.
Whether you’re craving rice meals, instant noodles, or something sweet to pair with your coffee, you won’t go hungry during the trip. ☕🍛
